The world’s first methane-reduced beef now in Coop stores in Sweden
In a unique pilot project between the biotech company Volta Greentech, the grocery chain Coop, and the food company Protos, the world’s first methane-reduced beef is now being introduced. Starting June 30 2022, the meat will be available in selected Coop stores.

Can fewer burps reduce the climate footprint of Felix meatballs?
Through a Swedish innovation project within the food company Orkla, tests are now being conducted on how more climate-friendly beef can be used in Swedish food production. First up is a test production at Orkla’s facility in Eslöv of 2,000 packages of Felix meatballs, made with meat from animals that have eaten Volta Greentech’s algae feed supplement. The supplement reduced the animals' methane emissions by 80 percent per day when included in the feed.
